iPieces Games: What to Bring to Grandma’s House this Holiday

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go….”
But what happens when you get to Grandma’s house? Does she have toys to entertain a spectrum of kids that have descended for the holidays. Probably not. Which means you need to schlep a lot of stuff to keep the kids focused on fun and not killing each other before the Turkey dinner.
If your family is anything like our family, we always have the iPad with us. Whether it is for movies or games, it is a multifunctional and compact toy to bring along for the (literal) ride. Yet, unless your kids each have their own iDevice, they probably will be fighting over who gets to use it.
Hence this post. I have something that may help you keep the peace. Check out these iPieces for iPad:
iPieces Air Hockey Game by Pressman Toys
iPieces Fishing Game By Pressman Toys
Snakes and Ladders by Pressman Toys

The iPieces Air Hockey is for two players ages 4 years and up (adult included). Younger children can play with it, but the pieces are small so there is a choking hazard warning. Yet, the more realistic problem (at least in our family) is that the pieces are small, which means my kids will probably will lose them. However, I found that playing air hockey with our fingers was just as fun.
The iPieces Fishing and iPieces Snakes and Ladders games are for 2-4 people ages 3 years and up, but it is a bit more essential to use the included pieces so losing them is really not an option. My suggestion is to keep the box that the pieces come in so they are easily stored (and less easily lost.)
The games include the needed pieces, a download instruction sheet, and the download of the iPiece apps are free in the iTunes Store: Hockey, Fishing and Snakes and Ladders. It works on iPad 1, iPad 2, and iPad 3. You can see the games in action on the Pressman Toys YouTube page.
My 3 year old LOVED the iPieces Snakes and Ladders game. The hissing snakes were a hit. Needless to say, at this age, it’s less important to actually play the game rather than just play with the game. He was too young for the iPieces Air Hockey, but I’ve challenged my brothers to a game before our Thanksgiving dinner. Best 2 out of 3 gets the first pick of dessert.
Sweet!
