Hot Toys 2014: HoliDAY of Play

It is a lot of fun to be the co-host of the HoliDAY of Play, but it is more fun to just play!
Can you imagine being in a room with the coolest toys that hit the market this year? Whether it’s toys for little tots or toys for your teen, all of the products were in the room for us to touch, to turn on, and try on.
Holiday of Play
First, was the Hot Toys Table. These are the top 20 toys that made the cut from thousands of submissions to be the best of the best for 2014, as picked by The Toy Insider. (You can see all them here.)

Since a lot of toys are technology based, there is even a separate toy category called the Top Tech 12; the top 12 Technology based toys for 2014. From what I saw, the robots are getting more and more fun from companies like SpinMaster Toys. There are fun watch categories for kids from Leap Frog and VTech, and then toys that combine traditional play AND technology, like a fun drawing set from Crayola. You can see the full list and the details of each here.

One of my favorite #HotToys14 tables! The #TITech12!

The other toys and companies in the room ranged from unique science based products, like this one from Makey Makey. Seriously, you just need to go to their website to see how to play the piano with bananas (or even your staircase).

How cool is this (and you don't necessary need bananas)! #makeymakey @TheJoyLabz #HotToys14 #toys #science

Build-a-Bear has new stuffed bears in tribute to Disney’s Frozen characters as well as super adorable Reindeer for the holidays. You can see my post about them here.

Yes. These are coming to @BuildaBear. The cat….err…the bear, is out of the bag! #BABTeamSanta #stuffedanimals #teddybears

Battat had a lot of toys especially for girls, like this play set.

A company called Imagine by Rubies has lot of fun products for dress up play for kids. There are masks and capes too, which would also be fun party favors for a kid birthday party!

Speaking of kid birthdays, I had fun with this hair accessory from Spaghetti Headz by MorphMallow. It would make for fun stocking stuffers or great treats for a bday bash. Heck, it would be fabulous for a Mom’s Night Out, because we Moms like to live it up too! There will be 24+ sets to pick from – many with themes!

I wish I could show you the other fun things from the sponsors like School Zone, Thames and Kosmos, Laser Pegs, Toca Boca (though see a fun video of me playing with a Toca Boca app here), Hasbro, Pound Puppies (though see my review here), Leap Frog (see my review of the Leap Band here), Cloud B, JazWares, and more. But, like I said in my opening paragraph, I was a co-host of the event and I had to handle other administrative things and let the blogger attendees have the chance to play!

But it was a lot of fun and hope you can find some new things for your kids to play with for the holidays this year and beyond!
