Valentine’s Day classroom exchanges don’t have to mean candy overload or plastic trinkets that end up broken, or already tossed in a bin by dinner. This year, use real toys as classroom Valentines. The kind that make other kids say “wow,” and other parents quietly think, that’s actually clever.

Best Classroom Valentines That Pair Great With Toys

FURBY MINIS (Hasbro)

These tiny Furby figures are perfectly sized for classroom Valentines, and unlike most collectibles, they don’t feel disposable. Each mini has lenticular eyes that change depending on how you tilt them, which makes them fun desk toys or backpack companions long after Valentine’s Day. At the time of this post, you can get 12 of them in one pack.

WHY THIS WORKS FOR CLASSROOM VALENTINES

  • Small enough to attach to a card
  • Feels special without being bulky
  • Kids love collectibles that show personality

This isn’t a one-day novelty. Furby Minis get reused for imaginative play, desk décor, or collections at home.

VALENTINE CARD PAIRING IDEA

“You’re un-FUR-gettable!” or “You’re Furby-lous!”

DISNEY LORCANA TRADING CARDS (RAVENSBURGER)

Trading cards are one of the smartest classroom Valentine swaps, and Disney Lorcana works especially well because kids can either play the game or simply collect the artwork. The Disney characters are reimagined in bold, modern styles that appeal across elementary grades. While you can get booster packs for the cards, I suggest getting the game. While you will need to recycle the game pieces, you get around 200 cards. Thus a better bargain. Plus, it means you can give six cards to a classroom of 30 kids. Making it more fun!

WHY THIS WORKS FOR CLASSROOM VALENTINES

Flat, lightweight, easy to hand out, and naturally encourages trading and social play. Cards are saved, traded, organized, and revisited. They don’t break, and kids can add to a collection or start one!

VALENTINE CARD PAIRING IDEA

“You make my heart GLIMMER!” or “I wouldn’t trade our friendship.”

LEGO CLASSIC BRICK PIECES (THE LEGO GROUP)

Instead of gifting a full LEGO set, this idea uses small brick bundles paired with a simple play prompt. It’s creative, memorable, and easy to scale for classroom exchanges. If your kiddo makes each item, that makes it 10 individual LEGO valentines. Alternatively, take a mix of pieces (10-20 bricks) and place the pieces in a baggie. Then give a fun prompt like, “What do you love? Make it with only these pieces! ” For older kids, you can encourage them to share on social or in their classroom chat.

WHY THIS WORKS FOR CLASSROOM VALENTINES

Customizable for class size, simple to bag, and encourages imagination instead of consumption. LEGO bricks never lose value. They integrate seamlessly into existing collections and spark open-ended play.

VALENTINE CARD PAIRING IDEA

“Our friendship is BUILT to last!” or “We just click, Valentine!”

ORB GOOZE COOKIE GOO SLIME (ORB TOYS)

This slime comes in resealable macaron-style containers, making it far less messy, and far more reusable, than typical slime favors. It’s tactile, calming, and fun without being chaotic. Plus, I love the cookie theme. It gives the sweet Valentines treat vibe without actually being food! You can put these in a bag along with a card, or make a sticker and stick it on the back for a single serve Valentine!

WHY THIS WORKS FOR CLASSROOM VALENTINES

Individually portioned, non-candy, and still feels like a treat. The resealable container means it gets reused instead of drying out and getting tossed.

VALENTINE CARD PAIRING IDEA

“You’re one SMART COOKIE!” or “You’re so SWEET!”

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS CARDS & SHAKER STICKERS (HORIZON GROUP)

If you need a zero-assembly option that still avoids junk toys, this fandom-forward Valentine set is a win. This is the first year, to my knowledge, that there are cards like this so these will be especially trendy.

WHY THIS WORKS FOR CLASSROOM VALENTINES

Ready to hand out, on-trend, and feels intentional instead of last-minute. Cards and stickers get used, shared, and saved.

VALENTINE CARD PAIRING IDEA

“You Slay My Heart” or “Love You More Than Ramyun.”
